What is a DSP?
A Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports people who live with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) to live the life they choose. You’ll change lives every day as you help people with their daily needs, but more importantly, you’ll be supporting them to be a part of and live a full, active life in the community!
What is a Typical Day as a DSP?
Every person we support is unique in their own way, so no department or day will look the same. Here are some things you’ll get to do:
- Support Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in their everyday lives—Going out to lunch, shopping, outdoor adventures, Special Olympics, and much more. (The Company pays you to attend these activities.)
- Assist with personal support at mealtime, bedtime, bathing, and dressing (depending on the person’s needs)
- Educate and demonstrate daily living skills
- Provide a clean, safe home environment
- Inspire individuals to achieve their goals and live the life they choose
What is an interview like at Aspire?
Our main goals are to get to know you better, give you an idea of what it’s like to be a part of the SOA team, and to see if it’s a good fit for you and our Supported Individuals (adults living with I/DD).
- Phone Interview: For candidates that meet our hiring criteria, we start with a phone interview where you learn what it’s like to work with our amazing Supported Individuals
- In-Person Interview: If we both decide to move forward in the hiring process, we schedule an In-Person Interview to get to know you better
- After the Interview: We’ll let you know whether or not you are selected to join the team
