We probably haven’t said this enough to everyone that supports us…so THANK YOU for supporting Southern Oregon Aspire in one way or another. You may have given financially, you may have attended one of our tours, you may have donated goods or services to us. However you have supported or engaged with us, we so appreciate it. It’s because of people like you that we are able to support the 172 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that we do…and that means the world to us!

We have been supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1974 when it was known as SPARC Enterprises. So much has changed since then and continues to change as the number of children with these types of diagnosis increase and the need for the services we offer escalates.

We are committed to providing the supports needed to these children as they enter into adulthood. We believe that every individual has the right to live, work and thrive in their community, so again, Thank You for your support!


What Services Do We Provide?

Residential
We currently support 42 people in 10 residential homes in and around our community.

Community Inclusion
Every week 45 individuals are supported in community activities throughout Southern Oregon.

Supported Living
27 individuals in our Supported Living program receive supports in budgeting, medical appointments, nutrition, shopping, etc. These individuals live on their own in the community.

Behavior Consultation
Our Behavior Consultation team can help individuals, families and the support staff understand what it takes to help individuals thrive in our community.

Vocational Job Training
Through our vocational job training program, including our janitorial and landscaping services, we teach skills to 86 people.

Employment Services
We help the individuals that we support to not only find jobs in the community, but help them learn how to do the jobs and be a successful employee.


Message from our CEO, Deb Saunders

Deb SaundersHi,
As the new CEO of Southern Oregon Aspire for the last 6 months I have to start off with WOW, what an incredible organization! The work that is being done here, the people that are supported, the caring and compassionate staff and those in the community that support the mission are amazing!! I have been involved with nonprofits the majority of my working career, and this place is right up there with the best of them. With new leadership comes new ideas, new opportunities and a new level of excitement. As a team, we are working on how to improve the work we do, find sustainable ways of funding that work and increase the number of individuals that we support. Those goals take the efforts of an entire community, not just those in need of our services. I’m excited for us to connect with more people in the community and get them involved in one way or another. I welcome any feedback, questions or ideas that you many have as we move ahead. We Volunteer

Volunteers
We understand the importance of supporting the community that support us. Each week, we take a group of our supported individuals out to Raptor Creek Farms, the local food bank farm, to volunteer some time to help with whatever might be needed. Sometimes we help process produce that has been donated, and sometimes we help prepare boxes that will be given to local food banks. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our people to be able to give back to their community, making it a win-win for all.

Success Story: Kyle

KyleKyle has been a part of Southern Oregon Aspire for over 7 years. He has worked in various departments including our recycling center, landscape maintenance services, and worked one on one with our maintenance services technician. He has lived on his own but in the last few years has decided to move into one of our residential group homes. He enjoys an active life being involved in Special Olympics, caring for his two cats, tending to his extensive Star Wars collection and spending time with family and friends. He also manages to work two different jobs in the community! He works at Logan Design where he does janitorial tasks and keeps the business looking nice. He was recently promoted to working in the production shop making badges, banners, and other items. He also works at Brookdale Senior Living assisting in the kitchen and serving residents during meal times. Kyle has utilized the services offered through Southern Oregon Aspire and continues to thrive in his community! Good Job Kyle!!
