The Oregon Transformation Project and the Employment First initiative are well under way in the state of Oregon. As an organization, we look forward to continuing the commitment made through these two projects. Information regarding Employment First is available at their website, including Frequently Asked Questions and success stories. http://www.oregon.gov/dhs/employment/employment-first/
As an organization, we are committed to continually improving the services we offer to individuals in our community. Southern Oregon Aspire is proud to continue offering a wide array of residential service options and is now offering consultation and training services throughout Southern Oregon.
Southern Oregon Aspire is NOT closing the employment division of the organization; however, effective June 30, 2018 the Contract Division shall no longer operate within the facility and on August 31, 2018 Southern Oregon Aspire will close the E-cycling business, which is a sheltered workshop.
A diverse menu of employment services is available to individuals, including individual supported employment, Discovery, job development, small group employment, and volunteer opportunities. There will be no interruption in services for individuals who are employed in our maintenance services department (landscape and janitorial).
We understand that while change is exciting for some, it can be difficult for others. We are excited about the opportunity to build partnerships with community businesses, open doors for employment opportunities, and create win-win situations for supported employees and employers. The skills, abilities and talents of those currently working in our e-cycle and contracts departments are valued and appreciated. We are confident that individuals will take those attributes into community businesses where they will earn competitive wages, make new friends, and become valued and respected team members in their new job(s).
We encourage all who have questions regarding these changes to talk with your Services Coordinator or Personal Agent, VR Counselor, and/or Southern Oregon Aspire employment team and Management. ISP team meetings are a great place to start making employment plans moving forward.
Between now and September we will have continued discussions about our vision and the direction of our employment department through scheduled forums with stakeholders and updates via our website and social media.
This type of transformation has been proven to work. We were innovators when we started 43 years ago and we continue to find new ways to support our mission of “Inspiring Unlimited Opportunities For People To Create The Lives They Choose.”
